FAQ

What is your current lead time?

Our current lead time is posted at the top of our every page.  Our lead time is an estimate ONLY based on current shop load.  It is not a promise.  This time can fluctuate so you may receive your holster before or after the quoted lead time.

What does my Order Status mean?

“Awaiting Fulfillment” – order has been received as is preparing to be put into production.  Changes can still be made.  Contact us as soon as possible to make any necessary changes.

“In Production” – order is on the production floor and can not be changed.  In-Stock items will be pulled, packaged and staged for shipment.

“Shipped” – order has been completed, packaged and staged for shipment. Package will be collected by carrier the same or next business day.

“Awaiting Pickup” – order has been completed and is ready for pickup in our office.

What is the "Add Thread Lock" option?

Because our holsters have adjustable options, tread locker is not applied to screws during the fabrication and assembly phase. When you place your order therre is an option to add thread locker to your order. Thread locker should be applied to the threads of the screws so they don’t back out once you have adjusted the holster to meet your needs. Lost hardware will be replaced at customers expense.

Do you make left handed holsters?

Yes, all of our holster models are available in both right and left handed, as well as crossdraw and small of the back (SOB).

Do you make holsters for revolvers?

Yes, we make holsters for many revolvers.

What guns do you make holsters for?

We currently offer holsters for over 350 guns.  If your weapon is not listed for the holster you want to order, contact us and we will see what we can do to help you.

I have a firearm you don't list. Can you make a custom holster for it?

Yes.  If you are local we offer a service that allows you to bring your gun to our shop and have a holster made while you wait.  This service has an additional fee and is by appointment only.  Please call to make your appointment.

Do you make small of back holsters (SOB)?

Yes, they are listed here.  They are designed for a “palm out” draw and are designed to be worn around the 6 o’clock position.

What is “cant”?

Cant is the angle the holster holds the gun in relation to your belt line.  The standard “FBI” cant is 15 degrees.  The higher the cant angle the more the gun leans forward.  The lower the angle the more straight up and down the pistol will ride.

Do you make holsters for guns with lasers on them?

Yes.  We support most trigger guard lasers by Crimson Trace, Lasermax, and Viridian as well as a few others on the most popular hand guns.  We do not charge extra for a trigger guard mounted lasers.  All of the lasers we offer are listed in the drop down menu on the holster order page.   If your combination is not listed for the holster you want to order, contact us and we will see what we can do to help you.

Do you offer Law Enforcement/Military discounts?

Yes.  We recognize the sacrifices of law enforcement, first responders, and active and retired military.  We offer you a 10% discount everyday as a token of our appreciation.  Contact us to request a coupon code.  THANK YOU!

Do you offer pick up for local customers?

Yes.  If you would prefer to pick up your holster we offer that as an option.  During the checkout process, simply select local pickup as your shipping option and you will not be charged shipping.  You will receive an email when your order is complete.

Do you keep holsters in stock?

Yes.  We have a store in our manufacturing facility.  We also have many dealers around the country that carry our holsters and we can refer you to them if you contact us or you can use our Dealer Locator Page to find your closest dealer.

Will my firearm fit a holster designed for a different firearm?

No.  Due to the nature of a Kydex holster, the only gun that will fit is the gun they were molded for.  The only exception would be if you had a compact version of a full size weapon.  I.e. Glock, XDm, or similar family.  If you do not know if your smaller gun will fit in a larger holster, please ask before ordering.

Can I remove my laser and still use a holster made for them?

No.  We use the widest portion of your laser to create the retention necessary to keep your firearm in the holster.  This is usually found on the laser, so if you remove the laser there is nothing to click into the holster.

I have aftermarket controls/items installed. Do I need to let you know?

Yes.  Please let us know if you have upgraded or changed anything on your gun.  There is a “special instructions” box at the bottom of every order form that you can list the changes to your firearm. Even if you do not think it matters please list the differences to be on the safe side.

If you are a left handed shooter and you have changed the orientation of the magazine release please select left handed with controls switched in the shooting hand selection drop down menu so we can make adjustments to your holster.

What colors and textures do you offer for your holsters?

We offer our holsters in virtually every color that Kydex is available in.  A list of the colors can be found here and our printed patterns here.  We also offer custom printing on our holsters.

What thickness Kydex do you use?

Our standard thickness Kydex is .080.  We offer all thicknesses of Kydex (.060, .093, and .125) but color selection is limited.  A Kydex thickness option is available on our IWB holsters.  If you want a thickness not listed or a color not listed just contact us.  We can accommodate most requests based on the availability of Kydex from our distributors.

Will a Kydex holster damage my gun?

A correctly built and maintained Kydex holster will not cause excessive wear on your gun.  We do not allow Kydex to form into the ejection port when we mold our holsters.  Some poorly made and many hybrid holsters utilize the ejection port to achieve retention.  This causes the holster to “drag” down the slide of the pistol and could damage the finish.  Our holsters use the trigger guard area of the gun to achieve the retention necessary for the snap fit our holsters are known for which over time will wear some on that portion of the gun.

What type of care and maintenance does my Kydex holster require?

Simply keep your holster clean by wiping it down with a clean lint free towel when necessary.

What style belt hooks do you offer?

We ship most of our IWB holsters with a standard over the belt hook.  Many more styles are available, including a “J” hook. If you have a special request for a hook design please contact us and we will do our best to accommodate you.

Our OWB holsters are available with closed loops, wings or open loops.  All are made of injection molded plastic so they will not break.  They are available in 1 1/2 and 1 3/4.  Closed loops are available in 2″ as well.

Why do you cover the mag release on your IWB holsters?

We cover the mag release on our IWB holsters to prevent the inadvertent pressing of the mag release button.  I have personally experienced this with a competitors holster.  If you do not want your mag release covered please add that information to the special instructions box when you order your holster (this option makes your holster non-returnable).

      • If you are a left handed shooter and you have changed the orientation of the magazine release please let us know so we can make the adjustments on your holster.

What is your warranty?

We offer a lifetime warranty on all of our products against defects.  We understand that “things” happen.  Please be honest with us with what happened to your damaged product.  We will stand behind it but if there is something we can do to modify the replacement item to prevent the same failure we would like to do that at the time of replacement.

Can I return my holster if I do not like it?

We offer a 100% satisfaction guarantee.  If you order a holster with standard options (stock ride height and cant) and color (black) and do not like it we will replace it with a different product or refund your purchase price less a 15% restocking fee.  If you have requested a holster built to your custom specifications or color and do not like it then we will not accept it for a refund,  Please be sure of the specifications before you order your holster.

What is Kydex?

KYDEX is a line of thermoplastic acrylic-polyvinyl chloride materials. It has a wide variety of applications, including for firearm holsters and sheaths for knives. KYDEX Thermoplastic Sheet is a registered trademark of KYDEX, LLC, which is the only manufacturer of this material.

What shipping services do you offer?

We ship with trackable carriers only.  We offer UPS, USPS, and FedEx on our website.  If you need a different service please contact us for its availability in our area.

Can you adjust the retention on our holsters?

Yes, most of our holsters do allow for retention adjustment (except Comfort series and Boot holsters).  A phillips screwdriver is all that is required to make the adjustment.

How can I become a Cook’s Holster dealer?

We offer a dealer program including product branding.  Pricing is based on quantity purchased.  Dealer stocking is required.  We provide signage and all tools to setup your retail area.  If you are interested please contact us for details.

What payment options do you accept?
